Substance Use Disorder in Older Americans
The pandemic has spared no one. But the impact on some groups has received less attention. An estimated 10.9% of adults 50 and older have a substance use disorder (SUD), but older adults are less likely to seek treatment, even when the evidence shows that they are just as likely to benefit from it.

Join us on November 17th at 1pm ET as the National Council for Mental Wellbeing's Substance Use and Older Adult Interest Groups team-up for a deep dive into the emerging SUD treatment and recovery landscape for older adults, as we welcome Brian Altman, SAMSHA’s acting Director of the National Mental Health and Substance Use Policy Laboratory and SAMSHA’s Western Branch Chief in the Division of State and Community Systems Development, Eric Weakly.
