Adolescent Substance Use 101: Current Trends and the Impact of COVID-19
The COVID-19 pandemic continues to have a major impact on the health and wellness of communities across the country, contributing to despair, loneliness and substance use in adolescents.

What does the current data reveal about this issue? How are communities tackling the problem? What kind of long-term impact will COVID-19 have on this population?

Join us for “Adolescent Substance Use 101: Current Trends and the Impact of COVID-19” on Thursday, January 28, from 1-2 p.m. ET, as we discuss psychoactive substance use among adolescents.

Led by Thomas E. Freese, PhD, co-director for both the UCLA Integrated Substance Abuse Programs and the Pacific Southwest Addiction Technology Transfer Center, our webinar will address:
• The latest trends in psychoactive substance use among adolescents.
• Current data about which substances are being used and nationwide trends.
• Mechanisms of action and the associated impact of each major drug category.
• The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on rates of use and access to treatment.

Together, we will explore the psychoactive substances most commonly used by adolescents, main mechanisms of action, reasons for use and COVID-19’s impact. Questions? Contact Rachel Shaheen (rachels@thenationalcouncil.org) or visit ysbirt.org!
