“Closing the Gap” Between Primary Prevention and Treatment
The National Council for Mental Wellbeing’s Substance Use Interest Group is excited to welcome SAMSHA’s Acting Director Captain Jeffrey Coady, Psy.D., ABPP and SAMSHA’s first Senior Psychologist Captain Arlin Hatch, Ph.D. from the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) to discuss new approaches to aligning substance misuse primary prevention and health care, to realize a more comprehensive continuum of care supporting behavioral health. Historically, primary prevention and treatment for substance use disorders have been disconnected and siloed. CSAP calls on stakeholders across the nation to “close the gap” through partnership with local prevention coalitions and implementation of primary prevention strategies. Join us to learn and share about the latest developments to improve outcomes through innovative linkages in education and care.
