any suggestions for addressing bias of primary care providers who assume patients' physical complaints are rooted in their psychiatric illness? Two of my former clients at a mental health center died from cancer after many months of not having their complaints taken seriously by PCPs. by the time the cancer was diagnosed, it was too late.

As a staff person involved in outreach, the challenge I experience is the clinical spaces being equipped to address the needs of individuals with mental illness or survivors of violence -- for example around cervical cancer screenings & sexual abuse survivors. Any suggestions around addressing this barrier on the side of providers.

How do we help patients when they clearly have a mental health issue and they refuse a psych consult or are very reluctant to discuss and face medical concerns/ tobacco use?

Apologies if I missed this earlier in the presentation, but have you incorporated any mental health recovery support specialists (often called peer support specialists or peer specialists) into the BRIDGE model? I'm credentialed as a recovery support specialist in my state & worked in RSS positions for almost 10 years prior to my current job as a grant manager with my state government, so I'm just wondering. The RSS training in my state is very focused on providing person-centered & trauma-informed services, as well as holistic wellness, which would seem to mesh well with this BRIDGE approach.

In small groups, discuss the following questions:Who might be some potential community partners to assist your organization in bridging mental health and cancer care for individuals you serve? What might be some strategies to engage partners? Are they new partners? Are they existing partners, but you have not collaborated with them in this way yet?
